Does having kids mean you are a grown up?

Does having kids mean you are a grown up?

12 Years ago today I went travelling “around the world” as they say, seeing some amazing places and meeting some great people along the way. This morning I was chatting online with the two friends I went on my adventure with. One lives in Australia, one Dublin and me in Belfast. As the chat progressed I mentioned how times changed and one of the guys said that looking at my pictures of my little one (8 months) and the other…

Moving day has arrived…..

Hi Guys, Having spoken for a while about migrating to self hosting I am now taking that step, my new site will be funkydaddy.net, please come and visit me soon. Hopefully if the process works well it will be all up and running in no time. It is however 10pm and I`m knackered but need to do this now as I keep finding excuses not to…who knows, if its easy I can say I did it left handed! From myself…

Blogging, a baby and a broken hand!

Blogging, a baby and a broken hand!

Late last week I decided that with only a few weeks until I return to work I was going to move to a self hosted blog and give it a real push. Then on Saturday I broke a bone in my hand resulting in a elbow length cast on my right hand, my strong hand. Now this raised several questions, how will I cope being a stay at home Dad with an 8 month old? How will I get around…

Those heart stopping baby moments…….and the comical..

Those heart stopping baby moments…….and the comical..

As parents we have all had those moments when your baby literally stops your heart.. I’m not talking about the obvious cute babble, looks, words or actions which can be heart warming whilst taking you breath away, I’m talking the moments when you quite literally stop breathing for a second when things maybe have went wrong.. An example would be when your baby first comes home and you stare at the monitor at night panicking when you don’t hear/see movement, or…

The blogging 101 reminder and the Kickstart I need!

The blogging 101 reminder and the Kickstart I need!

Hello, Having put today’s date in my diary as the start of blogging 101, which I have never used before, I was both excited and nervous to see it pop up as a reminder on  my phone.  My excitement came form another blogger recommending it as a great way to reach out to more people and increase traffic to my content. Now the nervousness or anxiety I had when I saw the reminder appeared. The reason I am blogging is…

Perceptions of stay at home dads changing, but slowly..

Just found this excellent article from another stay at home dad in Ireland, I can relate so much to what he says in my current position as daddy day care, http://jrnl.ie/1829000 Gave me time to think about my previous experience with additional paternity leave, http://wp.me/p5j2mt-t   P

Babies and the day to day complications you don`t think about!

Babies and the day to day complications you don`t think about!

Hi, having been the stay at home parent now for some weeks I have made several observations about now having a baby which I had never thought about. We all know the big changes which occur for example your sleep time is now dictated by a little person, your eating habits go out the window and your social life, well it just ends (temporarily). But as I brought my little one to see her grandparents over the weekend I realised…

A bell, a bauble and a baby at Christmas!

A bell, a bauble and a baby at Christmas!

What a magical day yesterday as we saw the delight on our Daughters face as she saw the Christmas tree at home for the first time. She even had her own special bauble and bell  to place on the tree and being the clever girl she is she picked where she wanted them (down around her height!). What a great day and I feel brilliant knowing that we made the right decision for me to go on to additional paternity…
