Blogging with 2 under 2 and a full time job, is it possible?

Having been consumed so much in recent weeks by our newest addition I have finally found time to scribe a quick post which has been playing on my mind. Firstly I am delighted that we welcomed our daughter Niamh Bridget into the world on 26/08/15 at 4.20am. I now have my two daughters as I previously scribed,

It`s to be two daughters!

It is truely the most amazing feeling in the world to have another baby now at home, she is brilliant! I am really looking forward to spending time with her and Sarah when I take advantage of my shared parental leave early next year for 4 months.

All of the sleepless nights, crying, teething of the future are all forgotten when I look at her. It is true when people say that it`s easier with your second baby, it is easier as you are not as intense or afraid. But having a 17 month old toddler, Sarah, adds a whole new dimesnion to the equation. It`s great that shes becoming more and more active daily and learning new things like opening cupboard doors, room doors, turning on and off car alarms etc… but it can leave me a bit busy to say the least, especially as I`m now back at work. She`s a full time job on her own from morning to night!

I now have  routine which consists of going to work around 7am, coming home at around 6.15pm and then having dinner before spending an hour with both kids before putting Sarah down. I then prep lunch and uniform for the next day, catch up on any other phone calls etc.. before watching a bit of TV for an hour (sometimes dozing) before feeding Niamh and then its off to bed about 11.30pm. The whole day can be pretty exhausting and to be honest finding time to blog seems imposssible at the minute. Thats the frustration as I have so many ideas and thoughts which I need to find time to put down on a post.

Thankfully my wife does the overnight feeds and I know I usualy have two days off a week but they are usually taken up by visiting relatives, going to parks, shopping or catching up on some lost sleep as we share night duties when I`m off. I suppose what I am asking is what do other people do who continue to blog in my position, how do you do it and would you have ay hints or tips for me as I cant see any real solutions at the minute. Is it even possible?

  1. It’s definitely possible but it requires effort and sacrifice, and being ruthlessly efficient with my time. I have a similar routine but one that involves snatching 15 minutes a day (or whatever I can spare, whenever I can spare it) during my lunch break at work, the odd evening when my wife is out and then marathon sessions at weekends – I typically do 3-4 hours after everyone else is in bed on both Friday and Saturday nights. It means I watch much less TV and don’t read as much as I used to and it’s not the most sociable of routines, but it’s what works for me.

    1. Thanks Tim, I admire your dedication. I think it will undoubtedly get easier when our new arrival gets into a routine, still a bit up and down at the minute. Until then its going to be grabbing opportunities when they arise, Thanks again..
